Handwritten Civil War Diary of John N. Underwood from Kokomo, Indiana

By John N. Underwood

A remarkable piece of Civil War history! Black leather pocket journal (6\" x 3.5\") for John N. Underwood. First entry is dated Wednesday, August 28th, 1861. Last entry is dated Saturday, September 27, 1862. According to my research, Underwood was a member of the 22nd IndianaInfantry Regiment.

Essentially an almostdaily account of this soldier\'s experiences in the war. Contains approximately 90 pages of handwritten entries. Lots of information on daily soldier life as well as battle reminiscences. Leather binding is in remarkable shape for its age! Interesting inscription on the title page reads \"John N. Underwood, Residence Kokomo, Howard County, Indiana. If am killed or die I want this book sent to my wife, Post Office Address Kokomo Howard County Indiana, this is my request whether this falls into the hands of friend or foe.\"

I\'ve done my best to describe the journal, but if you have additional questions, please don\'t hesitate to send me an e-mail.
