Stunning 1863 Johnson New Illustrated Family Atlascontaining maps of the various Kingdoms, States, and Republics of the World, with a special map of each of the United States, plans of cities, etc. forming a series of 99 maps, plans and sections. Published in 1863 by Johnson & Ward 86 Cedar Street. This very rare early atlas measures 18 3/4” x 15” x 1 1/4”. The atlas is in very good condition with green leather tips and spine. Filled with stunning maps of the United States, California and territories of Oregon, Washington, Utah, and New Mexico, Washington DC, Mexico and Guatemala, plus all the maps mentioned on the List of Maps page. The title page also depicts a tissue covered lithograph of American Indians checking out the progress of the times. Please note that there are signs of foxing, some soiling and the maps of Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsinare tattered. So is the binding however, the pages are still solidly in tact inside. Please see my photo.
