The Mexican General (and later Meixcan President) commonly known as Santa Annawas one of the most significant - and colorful - figures in the entire history of the Americas (see his biography below).
30 years after he defeated the valiant Texans at the Alamo, Santa Anna, who was living in New York City, issued this amazing $500 bond and signed at the lower right by Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna(1794 - 1876). Mexican political leader, president and general. The purpose of the bond was to raise funds to overthrow the Emperor Maximilian.
