Here is a really nice \"mini\" set to either begin a collection, give your collection a shot in the arm, improve upon what you have, or give as a terrific gift.
I have assembled ten NICE Indian Cents, a tough run of all ten dates from 1870 through 1879 inclusive, including of course the key to the series, 1877. I have made a well matched set that look great together. Even if you already have some of these dates, these may well improve upon ones that you have. Tremendous eye appeal here, individually and as a group.
The 1877 is a nice strong good, chocolate brown coin. It does have the typical weak strike for that year on the top of the obverse, but the rest of the coin is well-struck, with NO problems or distractions whatsoever, great color, and a very sharp, strong clear date. Please see all eleven pictures in the listing. 1870, \'71, and \'72 are grouped together, 1873, \'74, and \'75 are grouped together, 1877 is by itself with a string of 4 pictures total, 1876, \'78, and \'79 are grouped together, and there is one shot of the obverses of all 10 coins together, so you can see how nicely they all go with each other. 1870, \'71, and \'72 have bold N reverses. 1873 is the open 3 variety.
I\'ve been on for over 13 years. When I see sets, or lots of several dates, offered for sale, they are almost inevitably full of junk... lots of culls and fillers. In this bunch there is nothing pitted, corroded, holed, scratched, bent, or damaged, nothing that is cleaned, nothing that has turned green, the coins do not have excessive wear, and there are no Environmental issues. No problem coins in the lot. You can build a very nice set around these.
This would also make a terrific gift (Father\'s Day and Graduation are just around the corner). You can buy a Whitman or Dansco album, put these 10 pennies in there, gift-wrap it, and make someone VERY happy. Give someone a hobby!
