1871 Shield Nickel 5 Cent Piece- Very Rare Key Date:

A very rare low mintage year. The shield is partially outlined, with the cross visible and several of the leaves and berries can be seen. A couple of the letters of IN GOD WE TRUST can be read at the top and the date is faint but visible. Most of the lettering can be read on the reverse, all of the stars are visible and the 5 is clear. This coin has been acid restored, leaving it lighter in color and granular and allowing some detail to be viewed from an angle. There is a small drill mark on the reverse and it is not bent.
