1878 ANTIQUE STERLING SILVER NAPKIN RING, SHEFFIELD, ENGLAND, BY MARTIN & HALLThis antique sterling napkin ring has a remarkable design. The napkin ring is shaped like a crown. Surprisingly, this innovative ring was made in 1878 in Sheffield, England. The full set of English hallmarks is shown in the last picture. The napkin ring is 2 inches tall and a little over 2 inches across. For such a design, the ring is quite heavy, weighing in at 1.6 ounces on a postal scale. the weight is 60% more than a typical sterling napkin ring. The maker\'s mark ,\"RM over EH\" is for the firm of Richard Martin and Ebenezer Hall, a distinguished company which had its origin in 1820. The ring is in outstanding condition.
