Original and Unusual Mounted Photograph of Circa 1890 Civil War \"Richard E.Chandler\'s Illustrated Birds-Eye View of The Civil War Zinser\'s Opera House\"Poster with the Civil War lecturer sitting beside the poster advertising his lecture.I am assuming that the man wearing the hat and suit and looking at the photographer is probably the Richard E.Chandler listed on the poster on the wall but I cannot be certain.
The illustrated poster shows charging Union cavalry in a dramatic scene from the Civil War and then the information on the lecture is printed underneath the illustration.
Also seen in the photo is a painting of a rural scene above the mans head and the painting appears to have possibly business cards inserted in the frame.There is a cabinet just below the poster which appears to have papers piled on it.The wall has decorative wallpaper of the period and the floor may be carpeted but cannot quite tell.
The location of the photograph could be \"Zinser\'s Opera House\" mentioned in the poster but there is no photographers backmark or any other identification on the photo mount so have not been able to locate this \"Zinser\'s Opera House\".Also could not find any information on a \"Richard E.Chandler\"and his \"Birds-Eye View Civil War Lecture\"but this was a popular form of post Civil War entertainment in the 1890\'s and he may have been a Civil War veteran or entertainer-lecturer at the time.
An interesting view of an original post Civil War lecturer and the poster advertising his illustrated lecture etc.
Actual photograph size including the mount is 5 1/4 by 6 1/4 inches.Condition is good the photograph is complete but has wear.The image is in brownish tones and the actual photograph is essentially clean with some fading and some light smudging and dustiness.The mount however has considerable foxing and spotting and browning to it.Some smudging and dustiness etc.to the front of the mount as well.The back of the mount has foxing and spotting,smudging and dustiness etc.The mount is tan colored and the front of the mount has a decorative design border around its edges.The mount has rounded corners with light wear to the mount edges and corners.Thus overall condition is good only but the photograph is still in quite collectible condition.
