This item is a great souvenir/advertising medal from the Columbian Exposition in Chicago, and it features an amazingly detailed, very three-dimensional image of the landing of Columbus on one side, with WORLD\'S COLUMBIAN EXPOSITION and CHICAGO, ILLS. - 1893 along the rim. The other side is advertising for the spices sold by the Weikel & Smith Spice Company of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The company\'s monogram is in the center, with the company name around the monogram and the words BOHSEMEEM THE BEST & PUREST SPICES along the upper rim and 1868 PHILAD\'A. PA. at the bottom. This medal (so-called dollar) was minted with great three-dimensional detail, and all of the design and lettering is bold. This item is holed (as issued?) for use as a fob,and there is a very old suspension ring (original?) in the hole. This item measures approximately 36 mm (1-13/32\") in diameter, and it is composed of aluminum.

The item is in very fine to almost uncirculated condition, with very light wear but no damage. There are light signs of handling, with limited very light soiling (mostly along rim of pictorial side). Both sides remain a bright silver color, and this medal might have been produced as a proof strike.
