I have for sale a medal for the 1893 Columbian Exposition that is called the Danish Medal. This medal is made of white metal, it is 2 1/2 inches in diameter and in almost uncirculated condition. It has a small scratch in the field by the twin towers on the reverse and a few tiny spots. This medal is listed in the Eglit catalog as #37. It was issued in Denmark by V. Christensen of Copenhagen. It comes with the original box but the bottom is seperated from the top. The medal obverse at the rim reads CHICAGO - 21 OCTBR. 1892. and GUANAHANI 12. OCTBR. 1492. In the center it shows a female guiding Columbus who is at the tiller of his ship. On the reverse it has a cartouche in the center with an eagle perched on top. On the cartouche it reads ESPOSIZIONE UNIVERSALE - CHICAGO 1893 - IN MEMORIA DELL ILLUSTRE - NAVIGATORY - CHRISTOFORO COLOMBO. Below the cartouche it shows dome & twin towers of expo buildings.
