This is an 1893 original Thomas Eakins photogravure print known as \"The Agnew Clinic\".
It is a very scarce/rare black and white version of the painting that Eakins quickly painted for
the 1893 Chicago World\'s Columbian Exposition.
This came from a rare book entitled \"Artists\' Proof (Medal) Edition Marvels In Art
Of The Fin De Siecle. I included a picture of this book in this listing.
As you can see on the title page (see picture), there were only 250 copies made of this book
which may explain why I can\'t find another one like this first early version.
This sale is for the black and white Agnew Clinic photogravure and the
Bio page that came with it (see picture in listing). The book cover and title page is not included.
This is a large 14 inch by 20 inch size print on heavy paper. I have done countless hours of
research and can\'t find another like this in this large size.
Just as a note of interest I believe this painting was originally
called \"Portrait Of Dr. Agnew\" judging by the Bio Page.
Also note this is untitled which seems to be one of the earliest forms of this
photogravure print before being massed produced with the title below the image.
****I believe this is the only known untitled photogravure of The Agnew Clinic!****
Please check pictures as for exact condition.
There is a bump, crease in one of the corners.
There is only slight darkening of paper and just a few age spots.
