Emile arrived in Atlantic City in 1884
He planned to use hydraulic mining to recover gold
This method required building two ditches with 29 flumes to supply water
He hired about 300 workers, built a $6,000 sawmill
He also needed lots of water—hard to come by in the high, dry country around South Pass
He built the Rock Creek Ditch, more than 10 miles long
Placing a dam near the junction of the creek & Slate Creek to store water
Still, by 1887, Granier had spent $200,000 but had not recovered any goldThis contract is what I believe is for settling his debts, lots to read
