From a Tucson estate some years ago and a symbolic remembrance of faith (and in this case both earthly and heavenly reward) during mid century times is this Egyptian jeweler crafted 18K solid yellow gold devotional pendant medal showing a beautifully rendered crowned Madonna and baby Jesus. The \"purity\" of design here is especially appealing, the depiction a superb historic Coptic Christian version of the image - and make no mistake, this wearable artwork is not something commonly seen and heads above current mall offerings. Both the integral pendant loop and the attached gold bale show a clear Egyptian assay mark with an Arabic \"18\" for gold fineness. For those of lesser faith I personally tested this and can guarantee that is exactly what this is. There is further a presentational awarding inscription to the back, \"RIS / TO. / JIM ALFORD / MECH. MAINT / 1978\", giving temporal provenance and a bit of history. Weight is good for the form at about 4.6 grams on my portable digital scale. Condition is quite fine, with a nice aura of time to the gold surfaces. Please know I have avoided any cleaning or \"improving\", leaving that choice to the winner. The mentioned original pendant loop and oval gold bale are good to go. Usual and expected minor signs of period wearing about, are here simply more evidence of its treasured keeping. I\'m nitpicking for accuracy here, and a look at the pics should give a good idea of appearance and condition. Size is about 1 5/126 in. on the dangle and 26mm across the disk - yes this will be noticed and admired, and especially by you. For devotional use, and for those who prefer a higher standard in vintage solid gold medals, or simply wish a lovely representation of faith for immediate improvement to the ambiance of each day, this will have great meaning for you.
