18k Ornament Jasper Worry Beads Tasbih Misbaha Tabbah Box circa 1970 Beirut:
$499.00

A fabulous strand of what I believe to be red jasper worry beads with a magnificient 18k handmade ornament at the end. These have been personally owned since the late 60s early 70s when my family had the good fortune to live in Beirut. I believe the beads were made by Nagib Tabbah....yes, of the famous Tabbah Jewelers...whose sons and grandsons and I understand granddaughter carry on at present. The House of Tabbah marks and logo DO NOT appear on this ornament but these have been in this box as long as I can remember after leaving Beirut aka Beyrouth (the French spelling). The ornament aka pendant is not marked but tested 18k by my jeweler.
The beads are smooth as glass, beautifully matched and cool to the touch. They are strung on what I believe to be silk cording of a like color, with room to slide them....and they make that magnificient sound which clicking together. As you can see from the photos, the beads and ornament have an overall \"length\" of 14.5 inches. The ornament is 3 inches in length and has an approximate weight of 15 grams....obtained several times in my unscientific method of two fingers to stabilize on the table and holding the beads up!. The overall weight of the beads plus pendant ornament is 64 grams.
The interior of the Tabbah box is in pretty nice shape. The exterior gray velvet has discoloration which really looks worse in the photo than it does in person. I have NOT tried to clean it as I fear ruining the velvet. The little metal rims around the sides of the box are a bit misaligned. The box clasps firmly closed with its push button mechanism This is a pre-civil war box from Beirut.
Please forgive me if my description herein is lacking religious accuracy! I have little expertise in religious ornaments of any kind. These beads are a work of art.
Please see my other jewelry sales. I will be liquidating 6 decades of collecting from CZs to designer 18k and 22k over the next few years, all personally owned and purchased. Some of you have already collected some of my pieces in years past. In addition to jewelry I have a house full of unusual items collected which must go....it\'s just time.
Please be aware that I am not a business - I will not list and re-list in perpetuity so if you see something, please offer! If you need more time for a higher priced item, please contact me before offerding. I do not currently ship internationally as I have not had good luck with shipping jewelry overseas: please do not ask me! I hate doing this as I have purchased myself from other countries and been very happy.
I do not accept returns unless I grossly misrepresent something or send you the wrong item! My fine jewelry items have a modest shipping charge to cover postage and I pay insurance. I welcome your questions and HAVE FUN!
