A very collectable coiled steel \'rat-tail\' ejector candlestick mounted on a turned wooden base, circa 1750.

These very attractive primitive candlesticks are greatly sought after by collectors for their folk art appearance. This one is made from a coiled strip of cut steel which ends in a characteristic \'rat-tail\' terminal. Inside the columnar stem is an ingenious mechanism which could be used bothfor positioning the height of the candle and ejecting the spent stem. The candle holder stands on a wooden base probably made of maple or fruitwood.

The candlestick is approximately 7 7/8 inches tall. The base is 4 inches in diameter. The condition is very good with some old damage or deterioration to the base but otherwise excellent. The ejector mechanism still works perfectly.

Thanks for offerding on this great piece of folk art - good luck!
