The Lawrence Archaleta \"Buffalo Dancer\"

ConchoBelt

I am pleased to offer you this magnificent Concho Belt. It is signed \"Buffalo Dancer\". It was most likely made by Lawrence Archaleta. I\'ve traded his jewelry before and am sorry to report that I can not tell you much about him. Since 1971 there has been a dealer in Taos, New Mexico with the oldest Native jewelry shop in town. The shop is called Buffalo Dancer. Duane Hopper owns it and he has employed several smiths along with Lawrence Archaleta to make Native jewelry. So, there is a possibility that this massive Concho Belt was made by Rodney Concha or Josh and Lisa Concha, also of the Taos Pueblo. I have not researched this further as to which particular artist is the maker and I\'ll leave that up to the new owner, if it is of interest or importance to you...

The Turquoise Stone is noteworthy. I can not be certain of its origin, but I believe that the Turquoise came from the Blue Gem Mine in Lander County, Nevada. It has the \"glassy\" look to it and the right coloration. The Blue Gem got its start in 1934 and has produced some magnificent Gem Grade Stones. Recently the Duval Corp. took over the site and there is no current Turquoise extraction at the mine site. What a shame!

You may have noticed that the back of each of the 8 Conchos has a thick round leather backing. This serves a few very practical purposes. In addition to lookingproportional and beingaestheticallypleasing, it keeps Sterling Silver tarnish fromtransferringfrom the Conchos to your clothing. It also eliminates the problem (and the pain) of getting pinched by your own Concho Belt when you sit down! This is a very heavy Concho Belt and was designed to be comfortable. You will appreciate that it is well \"engineered\" every tie you wear it.

If you like Concho Belts as much as I do, please feel free to take a look at themany that I have for sale on ...

Iship anywhere in the United States for free. I will pack this carefully for you so that the conchos do not rub up against each other in transit and it willget to you in the same condition that you see in the pictures.Insurance is included, of course...

I thankYou and look forward to sharing a good experience!
