1901 PAN-AMERICAN EXPOSITION, BUFFALO, NY, SOUVENIR GILT MEDAL - ELECTRIC CITY:

This item is a souvenir medal from the 1901 Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York. The obverse design is a running buffalo, with the words PAN-AMERICAN EXPOSITION 1901 along the rim. The reverse side has an image appearing to be Niagara Falls, with words ELECTRIC CITY BUFFALO, N. Y.along the rim. [NOTE: Buffalo was the first U. S. city to have widespread electric lighting, utilizing hydroelectric power from the nearby Niagara falls, therefore the phrase ELECTRIC CITY.] This medal is holed as issued for use as a pendant or fob. There is no mark for manufacturer or metal content, but this medal is composed of gilt brass with enough of the gilt surface treatment remaining to give a light gold color. This item measures approximately 13 mm (7/16\") in diameter.

This item is in very good condition, with light wear and some soiling, and it is fairly bright.
