This is an ORIGINAL 1904 St. LouisInternational Exposition Shield-Shaped GRAND PRIZE MEDAL. It was sculpted by Adolph A. Weinman(1870-1952), the Art Nouveau master who later designed the Mercury Dime,Walking Liberty Half, and the 1949 Society of Medalists 49thissue. All the Prize medals were struckin bronze and produced by the US Mint.What distinguishes the various levels of award was their shape: Bronze Level was Round, Silver Square, GoldTriangular, and this Grand prize was in the shape of a shield. This medal measures 62 X 72 mm across the widest area and from top to tip(about 2 7/16 X 2 7/8 inches), and weighs 150 grams (5.2 ounce). It is in AU Condition. A copy of the insert will be provided.
