The following is from a 2017 evaluation of this instrument by a Certified Luthier\"This Gibson Mandolin model A4 serial number 6387 with a Factory Order Number (FON) 409 was built in 1907-1909. The serial number states 1907 but the FON is 1909. [See note below]. This difference could represent the time it left the factory from the time it was built. This instrument is in outstanding condition for the age and on a scale of 1 to 10 it would fall into an 9.4 rating. The selling price in today\'s market would be approximately XXXXX. This is also based on how extremely rare and the outstanding condition this instrument in in.\"

This case is from the 1940s-1950s.\"NOTE: The manufacture date should be no later than 1907 because of the design of the Gibson signature on the head.This instrument has been in the sole possession of the owner since 1950 and has not been played during that time.
