A Doll Collectors Dream!!!

This is a very RARE!! MadamePaderewski Polish Victim Relief Fund Doll by the wife of Ignacy JanPaderewski the famous accomplished composer and pianist as well as statesman.Ignacy Paderewski was the founder of the Polish Victim Relief Fund and hissecond wife Madame Helena Paderewski funded and sold these dolls that were madeby polish refugees, many of whom were artists, to aide in the relief ofdisplaced polish people prior to and during the first World War.

The doll is in very good condition. See detailed pictures! Note hair loss and coat that needs to be cleaned. The doll also comeswith the famous identifying medal/medallion that reads \"Polish VictimRelief Fund\" and has the crest/shield, and on the other side it reads\" Health and Happiness to You, Kind Doll Lover, Who by taking into yourheart and home one of my little doll waifs of Poland have fed a starving motheror child in that \'saddest land\', Helena Paderewski, copyright 1915\" (otherside of medal).

The provenance of this collection: The original owner was Bertha B. Peelle formerly know as Bertha Barnitz and Bertha Byrne, a great collector of dolls from around the world. Her mother was Marquesa Elizabeth de Zahara. Bertha subsequently gave these dolls to her babysitter decades ago. The babysitter is the great grandmother of the current owner (now in her sixties)selling these dolls. Thus, many of these date back to the turn of the nineteenthcentury!
