This is an original vintage 1916 halftone print of two rare examples of Old Spanish Pottery.

Background:

Part of the collection of the famous Spanish Art Gallery opened by Lionel Harris in London in 1907 on Conduit Street in London.

Two very good examples of old Hispano-Moresque ware.

Moorish in design brilliant with its metallic lustrous finish. These designs can be traced back to the Persian pottery of much earlier times.

The wonderful sheen about the lustre differs much from the commoner imitations in which English potters tried to copy the peculiar lustre of this Spanish pottery.

Example on the left: a 15th century plate or dish with raised rim with a knob-like ornament. Decoration is in blue, richly covered with gold luster.

Example on the right: a 16th century specimen – a blue and white jar – distinctly Moorish in character.

Condition:

This 96 year old print is in excellent condition – no aging, no tears. It has an image on the reverse side.
