\"When men and women are equally admitted
to those rights, we have the best safeguard of justice
and peace that the world affords\"Scarce original leaflet, \"President Wilson Wants Women\'s Suffrage,\" issued by the New York State Women\'s Suffrage Party, 1917, 9-1/2\" x 7\" (printed on both sides; intended to be folded into four panels). In fresh, excellent \"time capsule\" condition.

Edging ever closer to the passage of the Nineteenth Amendment. The present item was issued to promote the passage of the New York Woman Suffrage Amendment on November 6, 1917. Most of the text is quoted from President Woodrow Wilson\'s own statements in support of the movement, including a letter to the noted feminist Carrie Chapman Catt: \"As you know, I have a very real interest in the extension of the Suffrage to the women and I feel that every step in this direction should be applauded. . . .\" His other statements include \"Our party is so distinctly pledged to its passage that it seems to me the moral obligation is complete. . . . We shall fight for the things we have always carried nearest our hearts, for democracy, for the right of those who submit to authority to have a voice in their own Governments. . . . It is because the women have seen visions of duty, and that is something which we not only cannot resist, but if we be true Americans, we do not wish to resist. . .
