Sonning Vintage Watches Just Beautiful 1920’s Solid 18ct Gold Ladies Rolex with Solid 15ct ‘Spring’ Bracelet Vintage WatchOverview

Rolex began making watches in London in 1905 and moved to Switzerland shortly afterwards. They produced some of the most beautiful ladies watches and most had the famous ‘Red 12′. This is a stunning example of a 1920’s ladies Rolex and very rarely it’s in solid 18ct gold. The twin hinged case is in overall excellent condition with only some minor scratches. The original Rolex signed ivory/cream dial was refinished a few years ago and does have some scratching – please bear in mind we use macro photography and the marks are barely visible to the naked eye. The Arabic numbers in black with the famous red ’12’, gold dot minute markers along with the original blued steel ‘whip & spade’ hands are perfectly framed by the gleaming gold bezel. The original Rolex signed manual wind movement is in excellent condition and has just been fully serviced by our professional watchmaker. The watch comes with a period and almost certainly original to the watch solid 15ct gold ‘spring’ bracelet – it’s a good size and in excellent condition.

Please bear in mind this watch is around 90 years old and whilst fine for special occasions we wouldn’t recommend it for daily wear. Again, the accuracy of the watch will be 1 to 3 minutes a day.

Watches of this quality and rarity in this condition are highly sought after – if history is any judge they will only increase in value.

As mentioned, it has just been serviced by my watchmaker and, in view of the high-grade Swiss movement, I will include a 3 month guarantee on the movement which is long enough for you to assess the working order.

The Case

The Solid 18ct gold case is in overall excellent condition and only has minor surface scratches. The case measures 25 mm’s across excluding the period crown and 28 mm’s long including the lugs. The inside case is signed ‘Rolex’, ‘W & D (Wilsdorf and Davis, the founders of Rolex)’ and the case number is 646719. It also has the appropriate hallmarks for solid 18ct gold.

The Dial

The original Rolex signed ivory/cream dial was refinished a few years ago and does have some scratching – please bear in mind we use macro photography and the marks are barely visible to the naked eye. The Arabic numbers in black with the famous red ’12’, gold dot minute markers along with the original blued steel ‘whip & spade’ hands are perfectly framed by the gleaming gold bezel. The dial is signed ‘Rolex’ and ‘Swiss Made’.

The Movement

The original Rolex signed manual wind movement is in excellent condition and has just been fully serviced by our professional watchmaker. This is the higher grade 15 jewel movement. The movement is signed ‘Rolex’, ’15 Jewels’ and ‘Swiss Made’.
