1920s Elgin Auto Clock 8 Day Antique Vehicle Automotive #2 wheel pivot broken. This is a clean movement that has had its share of problems.Some of the lip on the pot metal casting is missing where the bezel screws on but there is enough to attach the bezel.The sweep second hand is missing.I realized that the 2nd wheel pivot was broken and in a cloudy moment I decided to disassemble it,put it in a watch cleaning solution for a pre clean and planned to re pivot the wheel like I was 20 again.Good sense came to me in that no one would care if I spent hours doing that so while I could have assembled it and sold it as needing repairs I decided not to do that and to explain about what it needs.I could still assemble it but why?The escape assembly seems good as all pivots and teeth look good and if slight power is applied it will escape,The hairspring is also good. The dial is very nice and so are the hands.The set lever and knob are also good with some plate loss.The two springs are also good,I cleaned,polished and oiled them before putting them back in the drums.A friend suggested putting quartz movement in it and I guess that could be done but it seems a shame that it has been around for almost 100 years to do that. It still has great potential. .
