An original mid 1920s French flapper dress in ivory China silk with art deco floral silk overskirt and wide collar, and floating silk chiffon panels. This gorgeous confection is made of whisper thin China silk. The bodice has chiffon shoulders and short sleeves, and then a wide silk lace collar with an art deco floral pattern. The drop waist has a wide gathered China silk cummerbund. The skirt is attached below, and is straight to lower calf length. There is a silk lace overskirt that matches the wide collar, and then the dress has two long chiffon panels on each side. Both the lace and the chiffon panels are about a foot shorter than the China silk skirt underneath. Above each chiffon panel are three China silk roses. There is a China silk lining in the bodice, and the dress fastens with a series of hooks and eyes in two layers on the left side of the bodice and down through the cummerbund to the top of the skirt. The dress is beautifully delicate in design and material, and reminds me of something that Tatiana, the Queen of the Fairies in Shakespeare\'s Midsummernights Dream, would wear. The dress is very well made and beautifully finished. The measurements (approximate) are

These measurements are roughly equivalent to a US size 6. The dress is shown on my size 6 model and fits well, but loose as a flapper dress should fit, with the cummerbund fitting well at the drop waist. The condition of the dress is excellent, and the only small flaws that I could find being a tiny eraser size hole in the back of the right shirt sleeve (shown in photo 3), and a very few tiny thread pulls in the silk lace. Other than the things mentioned, there are no other rips, tears, holes, repairs, stains, or musty odors on the dress. The dress is clean and ready to wear. Do you want to look and feel like Queen Tatiana? Then this dress is for you. Like the Queen of the Fairies, this dress is light, ephemeral, and a little bit of fantasy. Perfect even for a flapper wedding. Or wear it with a black feather boa for contrast (shown). The dress was collected in Paris, France more than 25 years ago and has been carefully stored ever since.
