1920's Native American Indian Chromolithograph Art Print By Robert Amick For Sale
Stunningly beautiful, original, ca1921, Chromolithograph Art Print of Native American Indians titled "Phantom Canyon" in its original frame by acclaimed American Western Artist Robert Wesley Amick.
This beautiful Lithograph measures approx. 30" by 14" and is displayed in its original, Arts & Crafts / Mission Style frame (measures overall approx. 33” by 17”). The Image is printed on a medium weight, matte surface paper stock but has the "look" of an oil painting. It is signed in the plate by the artist at the lower right hand corner.
This captivating Image depicts a Native American Indian Brave on the water in a birch bark canoe. The Brave is fishing in the still waters which are surrounded by the steep rock walls of a canyon. The scene and the subject are bathed in the rich, soft and warm light of early morning and the resulting tableaux is a classic portrayal of the "Noble Savage" view of Native Americans of the early 20th century
Although the Image is untitled, we have found it identified as being from the original Robert Amick oil painting titled "Phantom Canyon". The lithograph is neither dated nor signed by the lithographer but we did discover that in 1921 the U.S. Printing and Lithograph Company issued a number of Native American subject Prints from the work of Robert Amick. The Image offered here - "Phantom Canyon" - was one of those issued at that time.
Please Note: This is an original early 1920's Chromolithograph - it is NOT a reprint, reproduction or modern print but an original piece - printed, published and sold in the early 20th century.
This rare and VERY beautiful, original, 1920's Native American Indian Chromolithograph Art Print is in very good to excellent condition - clean and crisp and beautiful. The colors are rich and warm with no fading, soiling, foxing or staining. There is a single, tiny surface blemish at the very front edge of the reflection of the canoe in the water but otherwise there are no tears, edge wear, chipping, damage or repairs of any kind to the Print itself. The beautiful, Arts & Crafts style frame retains its original surface finish and is exceptionally well preserved.
A very rare, original and striking, 1920's Native American Indian Chromolithograph Art Print titled "Phantom Canyon" by American Western Artist Robert Wesley Amick and a fantastic addition to any collection!!
