You\'re offerding on a cool pair of 1920s-1930s vintage cast white metal bookends - featuring a classic, Art Deco period nude female design motif. She reclines back on a pedestal, with a sweeping, dramatic bobbed hairstyle, and dramatically extends one leg forward. They have a crackly, pewter-like color applied finish - not sure if the crackled surface is original or a byproduct of age.
Note that these pieces have some issues of condition - One of them has quite a bit of metal cracking around the back wall and some slight curvature of the base. The other has one area of crack in the seam between the pedestal and the back wall. They do both still appear to be stable and relatively solid. Both pieces also have some rubbing and wear of the finish - the one with less cracking exhibits more finish wear. Both are missing their bottom felting.
All that said, they still present very nicely, and seem to be less common examples in this subject genre. Base dimensions are 6\" X 3 5/8\", they stand about 8\" tall, and weigh about 3 lbs each. Note no manufacturer\'s marks or labels.
