I buy vintage linens at local estate sales and recently found some great items, including some lovely vintage clothing. This is a wonderful vintage dress wedding dress from the 1920s. It is made of cream silk satin with long sleeves and a skirt that is longer in the back than the front. The neckline has a V in front that is lined with lace. The sleeves are set in with small stitched-down gathers at the shoulders, and the sleeves are long and very fitted and end with a hidden snap placket at the wrist, with small pleats at the elbow for ease. The bodice falls straight to the slightly dropped waist, where there are scallops defined in piping. Below the scallops there are more stitched-down gathers. There are no openings or plackets on the bodice: it slips over the head. The skirt is fuller and is probably mid-calf in length; the hem ends in wide scallops and the skirt is about 7\" linger than the front for a mock train. I would estimate this as a size 0 to 2 - it is too small for my dress form. Please check the measurements below.measurements, all taken with the garment lying flat: about 14\" across the front from shoulder to shoulder; about 17\" across the front at underarms; about 15\" across the front at dropped waist; about 22.5\" sleeve length; about 17\" across front at hip level; about 41\" length from center back to front hem. This dress looks lovely but is rather fragile. There is some damage to the fabric, mostly at the shoulders - I would guess that it was left on a hanger way too long, and there is some ripping/ disintegration in the fabric, as shown in the last three photos. Still, it is so beautiful! Maybe the fabric can be stabilized.I am storing this in my smoke-free home, but I do have a cat who sheds copiously, so be aware if you have allergies. Please contact me for more information or photos. I am happy to combine items to save on shipping, so check my other listings too. Thanks for looking!
