Make sure to check out all of my sales after you\'ve looked at this one. I\'m listing an excellent assortment of mechanical, musical and technological antiques this week, and I suspect there will be something of interest to almost everyone.Here\'s a Lawsam RA-7 two-stage radio amplifier that dates to the early twenties and was acquired from the Henry Ford museum, whose Edison Institute de-accession in October 1995 was one of the largest high end technology sales ever held in the United States. As you can see in the photographs, the museum\'s gray metal inventory tag is still affixed to the back of the apparatus. The amp also has its original Edison Institute tag and a copy of the original accession/de-accession paperwork (it was donated to the Ford Museum by RCA).Condition of the amplifier is excellent throughout. The amplifier is also original throughout, including the cabinet finish, the white engraving on the panel and the pair of early Jefferson AF transformers mounted to the back of the panel. (Both of the transformers still test good). All wiring is original and in excellent condition. The panel has a couple of scratches in it, but overall it\'s in excellent shape, like the rest of the amp.
The amplifier bears some resemblance to early John Firth amps, but I don\'t think the two companies were related.
The amp\'s brass base tipped 201 have open filaments, but as noted above, the AF transformers are good, so if you want to use the amp with an early radio and loudspeaker, you only need to substitute a pair of good bakelite or brass base 01a tubes for the ones in the amp, and it should work as designed.
Shipping weight will be approximately 14 lb.That\'s about it. Iwill package it carefully and properly, and Ican assure you thatit willshow upat your doorstepin the samefine condition in which it leaves mine. I have been shipping antique phonographs and radios for years, and if you check my response, you\'ll see that I know how to do it correctly. Overseas customers may remit payment with Paypal only. sale participants with no response history should contact me before placing a offer. Thanks.
