Make sure to check out all of my sales after you\'ve looked at this one. I\'m listing a pretty amazing assortment of mechanical, musical and technological antiques this week, and I suspect there will be something of interest to almost everyone.Here\'s an excellent, working Crosley 50 regenerative radio manfactured in 1924 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Crosley\'s smallest full-featured regenerative receiver (except for the Pup, which came out a couple of years later and did not have a band switch), the 50 offered value and performance in a radio that measured just 8\" x 5\" x 6\" and weighed only a few pounds.Condition of the radio is very good throughout. Brushed bakelite panel is clean and undamaged, and the engraved lettering is still legible. The serial number on the lid card matches the serial number etched into the back of the panel. Spiderweb coils are in great shape, and the radio works well, too. Tunes near and distant AM stations easily, with good selectivity. The cam on the book condenser opens and closes the condenser properly, and the condenser plates do not slip out of adjustment once a station is tuned. There\'s a hairline repair along the base of the outside condenser plate, but it\'s almost invisible and it has no effect on the operation of the radio.Though small enough to fit comfortably on a curio shelf, the Crosley 50 has performance that equals or bests that of other 20\'s radios several times its size. Shipping weight, properly packed, will be approximately 8 lb.If you want to operate the set, you\'ll need a longwire outdoor antenna (ham radio type -- approximately 120 feet long and 20 feet off the ground), a good regulated DC power supply (I\'d recommend and ARBEIII), and a good indoor ground connection. The radio comes with a good 01A tube, so if you\'re familiar tuning principles of an early 20\'s regenerative radio, and you have the proper antenna erected, the proper DC power supply, and a working 20\'s headset, you\'ll be able to use it as soon as it arrives.That\'s about it. I will pack everything carefully and properly, and Ican assure you that it willshow upat your doorstepin the samefine condition in whichits leaves mine. I have been shipping antique phonographs and radios for years, and if you check my response, you\'ll see that I know how to do it correctly.
