1930 DUTCH (HH) SILVER (835) TEA STRAINER WITH 4 HALLMARKS:

Up for offer is a lovely 1930 Dutch solid silver (.835) square tea strainer. It is in \"As Found\" condition; I have not polished it. Approximate measurements are 5.25 inches in length, 3.25 inches across the square,, 2.5 inches top to bottom square, 1-9/16 inch bowl diameter, 1/16 inch bowl depth. Weight is approximately 31.3 gm.
This ornate tea strainer is very detailed with a different scene in each of the 4 corners. The relief is very good. The handle is topped with a man with yoke on his shoulders carrying 2 buckets. Don\'t know what he is standing on but there may be a couple of faces in there. There are a few scratches overall and a couple of small dents in the bowl - not sure how well they will show up in pic. The larger ding is appx 1/4 X 3/16 inches; the other is appx 1/8 inch in diameter. It does not lay flat ; the head of the man is slightly bent forward, the opposite end slightly tilts up and the bowl has a slight sag. I suspect this may be from years of use.
There are four hallmarks. Don\'\'t know how well they will show up in the pics. On the bottom end of the bowl relief are 2 marks: .HH. inside a rectangle with pointed ends = Herbert Hooijkaas, silversmith. This mark was used 1924-43. Next hallmark is a lion, can\'t really make out the number that should be there, but something is there. In the left bucket there is a Minerva with a \"M\" (we think) in the helmet. That stands for assay office Schoonhoven, Netherlands. Lastly, there is the letter \"V\" encircled in the bottom of the bowl. This is the date letter mark for 1930.
