Original circa 1935-1950’s cast iron Jolly N….. toy mechanical bank. We have left out the full name of the bank as per rules. The bank was made by the Sydenham & McOustra Company of Walsall, Staffordshire, England. The example we are offering is in truly exceptional & amazing 99% entirely original astonishingly bright fresh paint. The bank is entirely original & complete in all respects. There are no breaks, no repairs, & no touch ups of any kind. Incised in casting on the backside is the wording “Made In England”. This is the eyes roll down version. An example of this exact version of the JN is pictured on the bottom of page 191 of the Mechanical Bank book by Morphy.
We have had this exceptional example in our collection for a number of years. In 48 years of collecting, buying, & selling mechanical banks this is one of the three or four best condition examples that we have ever owned of any variety of JN mechanical bank.The base of the bank (including the shoulders) measures approximately 5 1/8 inches from right to left across the center. The bank measures approximately 5 1/8 inches from front to back including the extended hand. The height of the bank is approximately 6 1/8 inches. The weight of the bank is 2 pounds 15.5 ounces.There is a tiny light bit of patina/dirt on the white collar & a little dust here & there. But, we have chosen to leave the bank just as found & not to do anything to it. As mentioned above this is an all original example in exceptionally wonderful condition!!!Please examine the photos closely & purchase based on your own judgement as to condition & value.
