1938 Black Singer Featherweight 221 Sewing Machine (AE990523) with case. A piece of historically significant Americana!
This badged Featherweight was assigned its serial number on May 24, 1938.
This machine is in excellent working condition and is ready to sew on. I can say this because I sewed with it as a child and adult... I made my own sun dresses and quilts. It has since been serviced. It performs beautifully and sews that lovely Featherweight stitch! Even threading it is fun. It is also above average in regards to cosmetic condition. Oftentimes Featherweights from the 1930s show a lot more use. But this one must have been a bit more cherished than most, because it is still very shiny, and the gold decals show very little wear.
The case does have a significant tear on the back side and is worn, and the machine itself has light chipping at the base.
Scarce, and exceptionally nice! After researching this beautiful and functional antique, I found that it sells for $850-950.
