This is a vintage Singer Featherweight 221-1 sewing machine in a carrying case. It is serial number AE983148, which means that it was manufactured in 1938 in Elizabethport NJ. It appears to be in good condition; the light turns on when plugged in, and the needle goes up and down when the foot pedal is depressed. Actual sewing was not attempted. My guess is that the pedal/power cord assembly is a replacement unit since it looks newer than the rest of the unit. The case has a box that holds loose piece items including several metal pieces that attach around the needle. Included is a copyright 1937 user manual that is poor condition with a torn cover, but it is readable. The case has a musty smell to it, and the case liner that is on the inside of the lid is loose.
