The item up for sale is an original antique board game in its box , made circa 1939.The game has a playing board, 6 Santa Claus pieces (of 6), 33 number squares (for movement) and a small instruction card for making the Santa pieces. The box does not have the story book.The directions are printed on the bottom of the game board.The box top reads \"The Night Before Christmas Game. Story Book and Cutouts and Game. No. 3903. Made in USA. Copyright 1939 by Whitman Publishing Co.\"The box measures 10 inches long X 9 1/2 inches wide X 1inch high.

The box is in good condition aside from light soiling; wear to the edges; a tear in the center of the top lid apron; 1 split corner on the lid and 1 split corner on the bottom box; the lid is slightly indented; and one side of the bottom box is slightly crushed. The coorful paper covering of the box top has light scratches, very small surface losses in the upper left corner and very small stains on the lower right edge.

The Santa pieces have bends and light age toning. One of the Santa pieces has a pin sticking through the top & bottom to hold it together. The instruction card as a tear through the center with an old tape stain.The game board is printed on very thin cardboard. It measures 9 3/4 X 9 1/4 inches and is in good condition aside from light even age toning and a bend in the lower right corner. The under side of the game board has a small pencil inscription which reads : \"Joyce Huffers Christmas 1939 from my Brother Arlington.\"The game came from the estate of Alex G. Malloy, who is the author of \"American Games: Comprehensive Collector\'s Guide.\" (Krause Publications, 1999.)The game is a scarce item. There are no others for sale on any internet searches. I could find no sale records for the game on Worthpoint or any other internet search. It is not listed in the American Game Collectors Association \"Game Catalog of U.S. Games Through 1950\" and it is not listed on the website \"The Board Game Geek.\"Buyer to pay actual shipping cost by weight & location, via USPS for a 1+ to 2 lb package.
