A 1940s set of red satin lounging pyjamas with high waisted and 3/4 length wide legged pants, and a matching short cropped quilted, short sleeve jacket with a Peter Pan collar, quilted turned up cuffs that come to a point on the side of the arm, and two front patch pockets. The pants snap down the right side, and the jacket has a silver metal zipper down the front. The jacket is quilted with batting diagonally, and lined with matching satin wherever it is quilted, while the collar and the main part of the sleeves are plain unlined satin. The pants are unlined. The quilted shoulders and the gather at the top of the sleeves gives the shoulders that structured 40s look, and together with the iconic wide, high waisted pants this set is all 1940s Old Hollywood glamor. The color is fabulous - a deep, elegant claret red. The pants are iconic 1940s design like many that were worn by 1940s stars like Joan Crawford. Very 1940s, this elegant set is similar to one with a kimono jacket pictured on Ida Lupino in 1945. The approximate measurements of the lounging pyjamas are as follows:

These measurements are approximately equivalent to a US size 6 and are pictured on a US size 6 model. Although the set looks professionally made, any label that may have been on the set has been lost over time, including the fabric label. The fabric feels like it could be silk or rayon, but without a fabric label one cannot be sure. The satin certainly has beautiful sheen and drape. There are no condition issues with the set. However, this is a vintage set of lounging pyjamas that is at least 70 years old and there may be minor signs of age related wear like some loose threads on the seams and maybe a tiny pull or two. Please be aware that vintage clothing is neither new nor perfect. In many cases,vintage clothing has been worn and is no longer new, and that is why it is such a good bargain. Excellent antique or vintage condition rarely means new - do not expect new or perfect as there will almost always be some signs of wear, especially with older items. Sometimes we sell newer vintage items that are new old stock (NOS) so they have never been worn and can be in such excellent condition that there are no signs of wear. But some of the garments we sell are 75 years old or more, and even if they were never worn, the fabric may show signs of wear just from being stored all those years. Please assume that older vintage and antique items may have a little dust and/or a few age spots, unless we have specifically stated that we have recently laundered the item. Nevertheless, vintage is a great way to dress extravagantly without having an extravagant budget. You can often find extraordinary examples of antique, vintage or designer items that are wearable textile art and will make you look like a million bucks!

We accept only Paypal. We expect payment on completion of the purchase. We would be happy to hold items for up to 2 weeks to combine shipping. However, we appreciate payment at the end of each sale and you must contact us immediately about the possibility of combining shipping as we ship paid items very promptly.
Canadian buyers must pay GST on the Canadian dollar amount of the sale and shipping and handling. Please wait to pay until you receive your invoice for the correct tax amount for your province.
Shipping
We ship by Canada Post. We use flat rate shipping with one rate for the continental USA and another for international for most items. If an item is very large or heavy, the flat rate shipping will be slightly more. We only ship by tracked method, so please do not ask us to send your item untracked - tracking protects both the buyer and the seller.
We charge only what the post office charges us to ship. We do not charge handling and packaging fees. We are sorry if you feel that the shipping cost are high. Please remember we have no control over Canada post rates.
For international customers, flat rates are provided for our UK, EU and Scandinavian customers.
Please note : We do not ship to any Eastern European countries or Italy.
Because we are quoting only one flat rate for so many destinations, the rate quoted is often higher than what it will cost to ship to you, so please inquire for an estimate for your location if you are interested in purchasing one of our items. If a shipping rate is not provided, please contact us for the rate. We will not ship items marked as a gift. Customs, duties, brokerage fees can be considerable depending on the item, so please check with your local customs office to determine these charges before buying. We do not know what these fees will be, if any, for your country - you must check with your own customs office. Customs, duty and international brokerage fees are not part of the shipping costs and they are the buyers responsibility. We have no control over delays at customs, and because of this can only estimate delivery times to international buyers based on an assumption that there will be no delays at customs.
