1942 Kalamazoo KG-12. I am told this is a rare guitar. When I got it, I thought it was a KG-14, but I was informed that it is not a 14 model, but a 12 model. It seems to be the exact same guitar in every way, body styling, and size. I do not know why the model number was changed. The “H” was a letter code that Gibson used in 1942, and the red “4” indicates that your guitar was the 4thone build in batch 7026H (aka factory order number or FON). KG-14s had a couple of different headstock shapes, but Gibson started using the “open-book” on Kalamazoos and some other off-brands after 1940.
About the guitar. I believe the brace at the upper bout area is loose on the bass side, there is a slight ripple in the wood. The brace re-glue would flatten it right out. The action is higher than I am used to and this guitar would benefit from a neck reset. The pearl dots on the bridge are gone. There is a small hole in the neck above the heel. Looks like it was a strap pin hole?? Please see picture of this. I do not see any notable damage, or cracks on the guitar anywhere. It seems to be 100% original and in great shape.
