Description:
This is a beautiful vintage / antique 1943 pair of Crown Trifari \"horse-shoe\" clip on earrings. The vermeil coating on the sterling has worn in areas but they are still more gold colored than silver. (I have not cleaned these earrings) The lucite cabochons are true \'jelly bellies\' nice and clear! They look cloudy in a couple of the pictures but they are as clear as glass! These earrings are also featured on page 185 of my copy of \"American Costume Jewelry Art & Industry 1935-1950\" Volume 2 by Brunalti. They said the earrings were featured in Women\'s Wear Daily in the September 1943 edition with \"Angel Fish\" so I am pretty comfortable with dating them to this time. They also stated that Trifari tended to create earrings that could be matched with a series of items. These earrings are over 70 years old but they would still begreat to add to your collection or to wear!
Size:They are a little over 3/4 of an inch tall and about 3/4 inch wide
Markings:Signed \"TRIFARI\" with a crown over the \"T\" on the clip mechanism and \"Sterling\" on the bottom back of the earring
Closure:Clip on style earrings
Condition:Great antique / vintage condition. These beautiful earrings look like they have all the original rhinestones and the lucite \"jelly bellies\" are great - I had to get my magnifying glass to see any wear on them at all! Like I mentioned previously there is some wear to the gold coating but they are still more gold color than silver. The clips are nice and strong! They are actuallyamazing condition for jewelry that is over 70 years old!
