US 1945 V-Mail letter (you can see the silver in it) --- letter is to Miss Shirley Horstmann, North Houston Street, Cameron, Texas --- from Lieutenant H. B. Skidmore signature in censor\'s field at upper left

Letter is dated June 3, 1945, and begins, Dearest Shirley --- the writer says, \"Got your swell letter the other day and surely did enjoy it. Have been fairly busy the past few days and haven\'t had much time to do any writing.\" --- he comments, \"Besides I know my letters must bore you to tears as there is absolutely nothing to write about.\"

He complains, \"I was disappointed that you turned down my [secretary?] offer and I beg of you to reconsider - besides shorthand is not one of my requirements\" --- he admits, \"Yes, I guess you have changed, and I might add I have too - some say for the worse but you see I\'m no judge.\"

He concedes, \"Yes, I agree it is pretty tough in spots over here but hope that this mess will be over soon. I\'m so darn tired of war I don\'t know what to do but as I keep telling myself I\'m just one of many.\" --- signed, Love & Kisses, Skid;  DARK STRIP ACROSS BOTTOM OR SIDES IS THE PLASTIC HOLDER IN THE SCAN
