Up for sale is a vintage tin friction Mercedes Jupiter racer made by Marusan of Japan. The race car measures 10 1/4 inches or 26 centimeters long and it is in good, played with condition. I believe there might be a steering wheel missing. The windshield and one hubcap is not original, everything else is. The racer has really nice very striking pale yellow paint. It looks all original to me. The surface of the tin has a nice gloss; there is some chipping, especially around the edges. There is a little touchup paint on the driver\'s helmet and his shirt. Also, the hubcaps have been touched up quite a bit. The tires are all there and in basically good condition; there are a couple of minor flat spots on the two back tires. The friction motor works; this is the older style friction motor, with a corkscrew like, vertical shape. When the motor is in motion is does make a small clicking sound, but other than that the motor is silent, which is the correct sound for that kind of motor. Reading over what I just wrote, it seems like all I did was point out flaws in the racer, but that isn\'t the true story. This is a really nice looking, older style racer with a few flaws. It is perfectly fine for what it is, a nice racer in somewhat played with condition. Or it would be a swell parts car or a great candidate for restoration. I like it the way it is, personally. The racer is pictured on page 202 of the great Big Book of Tin Toy Cars Commercial and Racing Vehicles. Thanks for looking!!!!
