As most American pipesmoker\'s know, Cellini was located in Chicago, Illinois. The company got its\' start in the 1930\'s aided by a friendship between Elliott Silber and Tracy Mincer of Custombilt fame. Cellini was a full service Pipe and Tobacco Shop located in downtown Chicago that employed its\' own pipemakers (with Primo Polidori being the most recognizable name). They were collectively known as the \"Victory Pipe Craftsmen\" (which is the actual corporate name for \"Cellini of Chicago\"- - - \"Victory Pipe Craftsmen, Inc.\") Cellini offered pipes in virtually every shape and finish and their well-known nomenclature was \"CELLINI ORIGINAL\" which is on many of their pipes.
Cellini offered Tobacco blends and a complete line of accessories as well as an extensive and varied line of pipes ranging from Indian Peace Pipes to porcelain, cherrywoods, meerschaums and hefty sculptured freehands. TheirCatalogswere nearly 100 pages long and still have collectible value of their own - - - NO cigars, NO cigarettes - - - just pipes and pipe-related products!!! Although they offered a variety of brands by other makers, their primary business was selling their own pipes made in their Chicago factory!
Cellini survived the death of its\' founder, Elliot Silber, but not for long. It closed in the early 1980\'s ending a significant chapter in American pipemaking history.
