Unusual hand-made & hand-painted item.Imagery features a world globe with North and South America in blue/green,with grid line, and a large red symbol painted diagonally.
Sigma Alpha Tau evidently had some connection to local air transportation.The Greek letters Sigma-Alpha-Tau are painted at east-west and north positionswith a star at the bottom pole.
\"F. H. Chaddock\" is printed/painted at the top in the circular area on front, along with an address. From online research, he was a former member of thisPurdue University fraternity.A symbol in the shape of this wooden item appears in the 1951 \"Debris\" yearbookfrom Purdue University, in theirarchives, along with a listing of the fraternity members.
The reverse of this wooden item also has several signatures still visible and some that look to have been removed or partially removed.I do not know the type of wood but it looks hand cut with a jigsaw and nicely finished, perhaps varnished.
