This jug is titled \"Pied Piper\" and is numbered D6462. He was designed by Geoff Blower and issued between 1960-1981.Standing at 4 inches tall. The Pied Piper is an interesting character originally found in a poem about a man who goes to Hamlin, Germany to rid the town of its rat problem for a fee. Using his flute the man lures the rats from the town. When he returns for payment the townspeople refuse to pay him, so in retaliation he comes back and using the same flute lures the children of the town away never to be heard from again. Many think this poem is based on two actual life events in which many children were taken from the town-the children\'s crusades and the plague.Royal Doulton\'s version of the Pied Piper is a sinister looking man with shoulder length gray hair. He has a long pointy nose, a smirk upon his face and one eye brow raised with a deceptive motive behind it. In his two-toned or piped outfit of yellow and burgundy similar to that of a court jester, you can easily imagine this man stealing away town\'s children. The handle is composed of his flute and three brown rats.
