Offered here is a Japanese Woodblock print by Kawase Hasui entitled \"Early morning at Okoyama Castle.\"
The print is framed, matted, and the back of the frame is sealed. It is a consigned item and I do not have the
owner\'s consent to remove the backing. I can, therefore, only list the item to be sold in \"as is condition.\"
The mat window is 14 X 9-1/4 inches. The frame measures 1-1/4 X 14-3/4 inches.
The artist\'s signature and seal appear in the bottom left corner. As best I can tell from information inscribed on
what appears to be a piece of paper backing, perhaps from the original framing, the print was published in
July, 1956, and it was originally owned by Mr. and Mrs. Kosuke Matsukata.CONDITION: There is a horizontal crease about 4 inches above the signature that travels left to right and
ends at about the middle of the subject. There are areas along the edges of the mat that show that the print is
raised off the backing and more than likely, it is not laid down. The sheet is moderately toned. The colors are
strong, but may have faded somewhat. Overall, it is in very good condition.
The frame is wood with Mahogany Veneer, It has a tiny chip to the bottom right corner and a few minor and
superficial scratches. Otherwise, it is quite beautiful.
