This envelope (cover) was postmarked on the 24th anniversary of stamp issue on Dec. 27 1981 in Flushing, NY.

This stamp was first issued on Dec. 27, 1957 to commemorate religious freedom in the United States upon the 300th anniversary of the signing of the Flushing Remonstrance in support of the Quakers. Many believe this was a precurser to the Bill of Rights, Freedom of Religion. Religious Freedom is now guaranteed by the 1st Amendment to the US Constitution.

The stamps feature a pilgrim\'s hat, book and quill pen with a ribbon highlighting \"Flushing Remonstrance\".
