Up for sale, a 1963 Framus model 5 1/50 vintage flattop parlor acoustic guitar in excellent condition. With a 13 3/4\" wide lower bout, three-piece spruce top, and maple back and sides, this guitar has a surprisingly barky yet snappy tone. The sound is hollow, yet round, with a unique sonic signature that\'s sure to stand out on a record. The arched maple back also adds a certain extra warmth and touch of projection to the sound, and the modest size of this Framus makes it a perfect couch guitar and songwriting noodler.
The neck has a medium C shaped profile with good shoulder and a thick slab rosewood fretboard. The fretboard is very flat and virtually unradiused, and the original frets have their full height, well rounded crowns, and just a hint of uniform wear on frets 1-3. The scale length is a full 24 3/4\" and the nut measures 1 11/16\" in width. Strung with light gauge bronze strings, the action stays comfortable and easy to play in all registers. The original open-geared strip tuners are intact on the headstock, turn smoothly, and hold pitch as they should. The original fragile Framus label is mostly intact on the headstock, although the first few letters of the logo are lifting.
The body features a warm two-tone sunburst finish accented by the original transparent tortoise pickguard. Visible through the soundhole, the original Framus paper label is intact and near mint with a 63K date stamp which translates to November of 1963. The hardware compliment consists of a trapeze tailpiece and a floating bridge with ample saddle height for future adjustment. Cosmetically, this guitar is near mint withonly a few tiny scuffs on the guitar as a whole.
A modern gigbag is included.
