1964 Silvertone Harmony H1454 Vintage Hollowbody Electric DeArmond Gold Foil:
$1449.99

Up for sale, a 1964 Silvertone by Harmony H1454 in exceptional, collector-grade condition and in perfect working order. This guitar features all maple, full hollowbody construction and a trio of DeArmond Gold Foil pickups with silver diamond covers! This Silvertone is truly the cleanest vintage H1454 model we\'ve ever seen, and it\'s is everything you\'d expect from one of Harmony\'s top offerings. Complete with an original Bigsby B3 tailpiece, the H1454 is a versatile instrument that plays very well with consistent, low action and a great neck. Acoustically, the guitar has a strident, percussive quality that translates well through the pickups for your daily dose of sparkle and twang. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike\'s Guitar Bar and strung with 11-50 strings, this H1454 is a real stunner! The neck has a medium C profile that gets slightly chunkier as you move up the fretboard and fills the palm comfortably for easy chording and clean lead lines. The original frets are intact and retain their full, original height with great crowns and only light wear down near the nut. The guitar plays cleanly all the way to the last fret with consistent, low action and no excessive buzzing or dead spots. On the headstock, the original Silvertone silkscreen logo is intact and the stock open back Waverly tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The original nut is intact, and both E nut slots have been recut and shifted towards the outward edges of the neck to make the string spacing more consistent and spacious, especially for open chords.There\'s really nothing that can match the balance, clarity and overall tonal character of original DeArmond Gold Foil pickups. They have a percussive snap and twang, tight bass and a harmonically rich midrange that sounds great when each pickup is singled out or when paired together. This trio of gold foils can be individually selected or combined in every conceivable fashion, for an incredible range of sounds. All pickups have strong and consistent output, and when mated with the fully hollow maple body, the tone gets both the immediate attack of the maple and the warmth and fullness of the hollow construction. All pickups retain their original \"Rowe DeArmond\" stickers on the bottom and all retain identical May 20th, 1964 date codes! The neck and bridge pickups retain their original windings, while the middle pickup has just been professionally rewound by Sonny\'s Custom Shop using vintage spec materials and careful measurements to perfectly compliment the other original pickups. The trio of Brazilian rosewood pickup height spacers are intact too!On the body, all of the electronics work as they should, with the expected Volume and Tone controls for each pickup paired with a three individual on/off toggle switches. All of the original hardware is intact as well including the carved rosewood bridge, mini DeArmond bell knobs and nitrate tortoise appointments. The Bigsby tailpiece retains the original spring and is responsive for quick surfy dives, jumping back into tune well. The original two-tone redburst nitro lacquer finish still has an incredible gloss sheen, and the top is nearly cosmetically flawless, with only a few faint finish scratches in the clear coat in the vicinity of the knobs. There are a few minor scuffs and scratches on the back as well, only visible in certain light and nearly impossible to capture with a camera lens. The entire instrument retains an incredible, unfaded original finish that is jaw dropping in person and uncommonly clean. Both the 1964 date stamp and model stamps are crisp, unfaded, and clearly visible through the bass side F hole. If you\'re looking for a collector grade vintage Silvertone H1454 produced by Harmony, this model is a perfect candidate! The original two-tone blonde/grey chipboard case is intact and near mint. The vinyl covering is near flawless and the original latches and handle are present. Harmony/Silvertone reserved the cases with plush red lined interiors for their most expensive models, and the H1454 was the top offering in the \'64 Sears catalog!
