1967 Mosrite Celebrity II Mark I +Orig Victoria Case Minty -Semie\'s Gibson Es330:
$1005.00

You\'re viewing a 1966 or 1967 American-made Mosrite Celebrity II Mark I with all original parts and electronics in near mint condition with it\'s original Victoria Luggage case also in amazingly excellent condition. The serial number both on the neck (fretboard) and in the body (sticker in the F-hole) is A-0630. This was Semie Mosely\'s take on a Gibson Es330 and the Celebrity II Mark I was the top-of the line Celebrity with the large bound F-holes (as opposed to the smaller F-holes on the lower-end Celebrities), Mosrite pole-piece pickups (as opposed to the covered pole piece pickups on lower end models), controls mounted to the body of the guitar (as opposed to a plastic control plate on the lower-end Celebrities), and the patented Mosely 1/2 vibrato (as opposed to a trapeze tailpiece). This guitar is as close to a \"closet classic as I have seen in a long time - definitely a collector grade guitar that likely lived most of it\'s life stored under a bed or in the back of a closet somewhere. The original cherry finish is in amazing condition, with no dents, dings, cracks, or weather checking other than a couple of chips on the front bass side of the headstock that were touched up with matching nitro lacquer and are difficult, if not impossible, to see and a couple of very light, minor finish cracks in line with the screws holding the vibrato to the guitar. Otherwise, nothing else I can detect. When you open the case, to me it very much feels as if you are opening the case on a new Mosrite Celebrity back in 1966 or 1967.The guitar has all the original parts and electronics, from the original Kluson split shaft tuners, to the saucer knobs, Mosely vibrato and the pole piece pickups always seen on the upper-end Mosrites. Electronically the guitar functions perfectly and the big Mosrite single coils deliver a big, full, , throaty and punchy sound that is instantly recognizable and loved by Mosrite fans everywhere. The frets have no wear and there is no pitting on the fretboard, with only a small mark where it looks like someone\'s fingernail scratched the patina on the board to show that it was only played sparingly, if at all. The is guitar is as close to a minty time capsule from 1967 as I have seen in a while. Structurally, there are no cracks, breaks, or repairs to the guitar, and it was just set up (with 11-49s) and gone over thoroughly by one of Milwaukee\'s most skilled guitar techs, so all you have to do is plug and play. The thin neck and \"speed frets\" Mosrite was famous for, combined with the 1 5/8\" nut width give this guitar a fast and easy action that make it a joy to play. The speed frets do not lend themselves to heavy bending (that\'s not what the surf guitarists that comprised Mosrite\'s market in the 60\'s were doing), but because the frets are virtually unplayed, I was able to pull off light bending on the guitar without a problem. Weighing in at just 6lbs 2ounces on my scale with excellent balance (not neck heavy) mean you can play this guitar all night and barely notice it\'s there. You rarely see these with the original Victoria Luggage case and when you do the case\'s are usually in very poor condition, but not so with this one. The case is in excellent condition with almost all tolex intact and no rips or tears, just a small amount of fraying on the bottom of the case (lower bout). You rarely see these in this condition, so Mosrite fans, don\'t miss out! Reasonable starting offer and Buy-It-Now for a 1960s Mosrite in this condition. As always buyers from the US, Canada, UK, Western Europe, Australia and NEw Zealand are always welcome. Please ask any questions and thanks for looking. I offer a 72 hour approval period for purchases; see the \"additional payment instructions.\"
