The plot \"Hunting for deer\" is one of the earliest plots in Russian lacquer miniature, created in the iconic centers of Palekh and Mstera. Without a doubt, this is one of theoldest stories in art in general. The earliest images of hunting were created by man onthe walls of caves during the Paleolithic era and date back to the 40th millennium BC.Scenes of deer hunting are found everywhere in the whole ancient art of the Scythians,Sarmatians, Goths, Etruscans, Egyptians, Persian, Indian.Since ancient times, primitive religion (paganism) has been associated with the image of a deer. The archaic layer of legends of many, including Indo-European peoples, speaks of the deer cult. The ancient Celts, for example, had an image of a deity with deer horns; The ancient Greek goddessArtemis was depicted surrounded by deer (deer); On Altai in the Scythian grave an image of a wingedanimal with the horns of a deer was found (Shnirel\'man, 1988: 10). In the set of clothes of Siberianshamans, deer horns were decorated with a headdress. This motif is called \"Sacred Hunt\", and always performed a sacral function. The motif of the \"sacred hunting\" is widely spread in the fine arts of antiquity and isrepresented in the most diverse forms among different peoples in a large time range, which in itself presupposes a certain universality of the plot and, obviously, its semantics.Of interest in this case is the search for a deep general semantic layer, which, as a rule,is in the field of the mythological conception and over time acquires additional semanticaccents and new content that are relevant already for a particular culture and historical epoch.Attention is drawn to the fact that hunting scenes occur, as a rule, on reliefs or wall paintingsof palaces or religious buildings, as well as on precious objects. Thus, the very topographyof images of hunting scenes makes it possible to suspect in them a more important contentthan simply fixing scenes of court life and royal entertainment - the interpretation that lies onthe surface. Thus, scenes of royal hunting in ancient Eurasian art, along with scenes of battle, feast andscenes of animal torment, are sacred in nature and are associated with mythological overtones, which are to a certain extent universal for the ancient cultures of Eurasia. They reflect the oldestlayer of mythology with its concept of the universe, the understanding of ensuring and maintainingthe world order with its cyclical reproduction of life and the inevitable transition to another world, which is like a reservoir of potential artisticlevel.Measures: 175mm (6.88 inch) x 122 mm (4.80 inch) x 55mm (2.16 inch)Hand Made in USSR
