This historic Tuning Fork movement was the First Electronic Watch Mass Produced in the World.

Developed before the Quartz this movement sends the second hand sweeping smoothly over the dial rather than ticking, the signature hum of the vibrating tuning forks can be heard powering the movement.

This classic watch is running like a charm giving any valued collector a vintage find and extraordinary opportunity for investment.

~~~~ OWN A PIECE OF HISTORY~~~~
These watches are becoming more and more scarce. This was the first electronic timepiece produced and the first commercial use of the transistor, a technological wonder of the 60s. With only 12 moving parts in the watch a tuning fork oscillates 31,104,000 times per 24 hour period to produce the distinctive sweeping second hand movement.
Mass production of the Accutron 214 began in November of 1960 and they were introduced to the public in 1960. During the 17 years that tuning fork watches were made they were the most accurate production timepieces on the Earth, and in space.
In 1960 NASA asks Bulova to incorporate Accutron technology into its equipment for the space program. . During those early years Accutron timing mechanisms were used in 46 US space program missions. During the Apollo 11 mission an Accutron was left on the Sea of Tranquility by Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin in 1969. An Accutron from Apollo 12 was left in the central data station on the moon on the Ocean of Storms by Pete Conrad and Alan Bean also in 1969.In 1962 the Accutron 214 becomes the first wristwatch certified for use by railroad personnel. Previously, engineers used pocket watches which had to be frequently calibrated in order to \"run the railroads on time\".Accutron wristwatches were given to world leaders as a presidential gift and in 1964 President Lynden Johnson declares Accutron to be the official \"Gift of State\".By 1967 Accutron clocks were the only clocks aboard Air Force One and many instrument panel Accutrons were used in military ships and aircraft.
Demand has also increased because of the release of the 50th Anniversary model listed at $4000.00. Sadly the new model has different parts than the original, so it is not an exact replica, making the original watches even more
All watches are Restored. This involves dis-assembly of the watch, ultrasonic cleaning and light polishing of the case. Movement is cleaned and oiled, then adjusted for the best possible accuracy. Please keep in mind that this is a 45 year old historic timepiece, if you are looking for dead on perfect time keeping please consider a modern quartz movement.
