Here\'s a 1971 Marshall Super Bass 1992 100W Tube Head.Amp is in very good condition and it works perfectly. This is a really big and gutsy sounding amplifier made for Rock & Roll.

Serial number : SB/A2212C

Summary infos:

  • The original transformer has been changed for a Merren Audio Marshall 100W Replacement Output Transformer, which are made in California and are a really close sonic substitution to the original transformer. The Filter Caps have also been changed as usual maintenance.
  • The original tolex had seen a lot of road, so a new black tolex has given it a whole new life.
  • The amp is now running on JJ KT-77 tubes that gives it a little more headroom and a different response. A switch back to EL-34 can easily be done without any modification.
  • A mod to bypass the original ohm-selector was done to give two separate outputs. It now has a 8 ohm and a 16 ohm output. The original switching system are prone to breaking and it’s very dangerous to blow the head when this happens.
  • The amp is wearing a non-original plexiglass (“Plexi”) panel at the moment, but I still have the original metal plate and will provide it with the amp.
  • All modifications, repairs and maintenance services were done by Rick Onslow, Marshall Amp Specialist in Montreal, QC.
  • This amp is missing the original back grill.

For those unfamiliar with this particular and rare Marshall Head model, here is what The Vintage Marshall Guide has to say about these :

“The Marshall Bass 50w #1986 and the Marshall Super Bass 100w #1992 appeared after the change to the EL-34 tubes. Related to the #1987 and the #1959 respectively, they were designed for bass players. But many guitarists also decided to try those and they found out that they could get really interesting tones with them. They were a bit smoother and had a tad less gain than their Lead counter-parts. They can easily be converted into Lead circuits as well.

It used the same headbox as the Super Lead. Front panel was also identical.”

  • Hand-wired point-to-point circuit
  • Four KT-77s in the power stage
  • Three ECC83s in the preamp
  • 3-band EQ and Presence
  • 4 inputs
